A checkered wallpaper border in its simplest form. The Checkerboard wallpaper border is two rows of staggered squares running horizontally, nothing more. Clean and rhythmic, somewhere between retro graphics and bistro tiles. At 8 cm wide it is a light touch: it structures a bare wall without turning it into a patterned one.
Where to put it. A checkerboard border is not just for kids’ rooms. Run it along a hallway at mid-height to stretch the space, above a desk or under a shelf to underline an existing line, around a door or a window to frame it, or at the head of a bed. Two parallel lines a few centimetres apart make a bolder double border.
Four colours. Blue, yellow, red and black. Red and yellow bring a pop note to neutral walls, blue stays calm, black is the most graphic and goes with almost everything.
Hung with water. The paper is prepasted: spray the back with water, the paste activates and the border goes up. No glue to buy. Borders join end to end with no visible break, so you can cover any length.
